FireEye Earns Top Honors for Advanced Threat Detection and Threat Intelligence from SANS Institute

Security Professionals Vote for the Importance of an Adaptive Defense Approach to Security

MILPITAS, Calif. – Apr 16, 2015 – FireEye, Inc. (NASDAQ: FEYE), the leader at stopping today's advanced cyber attacks, today announced that it has won two awards in the SANS Institute’s Best of 2014 Awards. The company earned top ratings in the categories of “Advanced Threat Detection” and “Threat Intelligence,” receiving more awards than any other security platform vendor.

Based on the votes of more than 650 cyber security professionals, the SANS Best of 2014 Awards highlight products that the security community believes are the best at protecting businesses and consumers from cyber attacks. Voters are a part of the SANS WhatWorks program, a group that enables actual product users to share why they chose a product, how they use it, and the security improvements they have experienced.

“FireEye is reimagining the way companies approach security, and we are honored that our customers have voted us the leader in protecting them from the damage of cyber attacks,” said Dave DeWalt, chairman of the board and CEO, FireEye. “Being awarded for both Advanced Threat Detection and Threat Intelligence by the SANS community shows how a unified, Adaptive Defense approach to security is the most impactful way to secure businesses in the advanced threat landscape.”

“Despite the growing number of breaches spotlighted in headline news, there are many organizations that are successfully avoiding or preventing breaches yet we never hear about these successes,” said John Pescatore, director of emerging trends, SANS Institute. “The SANS Best of Awards was created to raise awareness of the solutions that organizations are using to successfully fend off attacks. By showcasing the solutions that are making a difference by reducing the business impact of cyberattacks in real world applications we believe we can help security professionals to reduce the number of successful intrusions.”

Recently, FireEye Threat Intelligence revealed a highly successful decade-long cyber espionage campaign likely backed by the Chinese government. A comparison of Advanced Threat Protection solutions by Delta Testing also found FireEye had a 99 percent detection rate compared to the average rate of detection of 17 percent by the six other vendors tested.

Through a combination of technology, intelligence, and expertise, FireEye enables businesses to detect, prevent, analyze, and respond to cyber threats. This nimble approach gives our customers in the SANS community – and around the world – the ability to keep up with the tools, tactics, and procedures of today’s advanced threats.
